Quotes 💬
I don’t want to underestimate or understate how important that is in this work, to know that there are safe people that you can trust.
People can take as much time as they need and take what’s helpful and drop what’s not, and leave the rest for later. I get excited about the different ways, and some of it is kind of just exploring and brainstorming and experimenting, see what kind of fits, like offering different things, and kind of seeing what sticks and seeing what impacts people. And sometimes the thing that sticks with most people might be surprising to us as we’re offering different things.
The process itself of trauma is overwhelming, but even healing is overwhelming. Knowing where to go and where to start and what to listen to, and who to trust, I just feel so caring and compassionate and tender toward the people who are like, "I don’t even know if I can listen to, if I can even be in a group of people, because I’m not sure if I feel even okay trying that yet."
I believe that the pain of whatever happened to you is telling the truth about the awfulness of what it was. The pain is real. Agony is worth believing. Believing your body when it tells you something hurts, you’re not crazy.
